From March 27 to 31, a delegation led by Danilo Türk, former Slovenian President and non-resident senior fellow of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY), took a visit to Shantou, a port city on the eastern coast of Guangdong, China.
The delegation visited Shantou University and conducted heated discussions on hot topics such as the construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and China-EU cooperation with the teachers and students.
Lin Yimin, deputy mayor of Shantou City, met with Dr. Türk. He introduced the development of Shantou and the Chaoshan culture to the delegation. The two sides exchange their views on the construction of the port city.
Dr. Danilo Türk is a renowned senior politician, diplomat, jurist and expert in international governance. He has been the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations since 2000 and was selected as the President of the Republic of Slovenia in 2007. He has been working in the United Nations for nearly 30 years, who has visited China many times and has maintained a friendly relationship with Chinese people in various areas.
Dr. Danilo Türk was appointed as the senior fellow of RDCY in 2015 ,who was remarked as the first national head of state to be a Chinese Think Tank researcher in the history.
