On December 12, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with foreign guests attending the "Imperial Springs International Forum 2018" at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Dr. Danilo Türk, former President of Slovenia and Non-Resident Senior Fellow of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY), was invited again and met by President Xi. On November 30 last year, Dr. Danilo Türk was ever met by Xi Jinping as a member of the World Leaders League.

President Xi pointed out that this year marks 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. Over the past 40 years, China’s development has made tremendous achievements and people’s lives have been greatly improved. Xi emphasized that China is promoting the establishment of a new type of international relations and building a community of shared future for mankind, the key of which is on achieving win-win cooperation with other countries.

Foreign guests congratulated China on the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up and appreciated China's role in the international affairs. The guests stressed that countries should pay more attention on the long-term vision and common interests while concentrating on the short-term development goals. Dr. Danilo Türk said that International institutions can play a big role in this respect. In November this year, the EU, China and India jointly proposed a reform proposal for WTO dispute settlement mechanism, which is important for this mechanism to function normally.
Dr. Danilo Türk is a renowned senior politician, diplomat, jurist and expert in international governance. He has been the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations since 2000 and was selected as the President of the Republic of Slovenia in 2007. He has been working in the United Nations for nearly 30 years, who has visited China many times and has maintained a friendly relationship with Chinese people in various areas such as Global Governance, "Belt and Road" Initiative and the development of the world.
Dr. Danilo Türk was appointed as the senior fellow of RDCY in 2015, who was remarked as the first national head of state to be a Chinese Think Tank researcher in the history. Over the past few yeas he has contributed ideological power to the Think Tanks in China, especially for cooperation, research and promotion of the "Belt and Road" between China and Europe, and received the policy-makers’ approval and international reputation.
