Professor Srikanth Kondapalli, an expert on Chinese Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in India, gave a lecture entitled " Recent National Elections in India- The New Government's Foreign Policies" at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY) on June 14.
Professor Srikanth Kondapalli first introduced the Indian general election in 2019 and briefly analyzed the reasons why Prime Minister Modi won the national election by a landslide and its impact on Indian domestic and foreign policy of the future new government.
Then he interprets India's foreign policy from the perspective of the Bharatiya Janata Party Manifesto and analyzes some factors and events and its possible impact on Sino-Indian relations. He also briefly reviews the current Sino-Indian economic and trade relations and gives his opinions on the trade gap between China and India. At the end of the lecture, he briefly systematizes the policies of the Modi government, the current situation and future challenges of India's development, as well as the prospects of Sino-Indian relations.
The guests attending the lecture included Professor Lin Minwang, a researcher at the Institute of International Studies of Fudan University and a visiting fellow of RDCY. He gave his comments on Professor Srikanth Kondapalli's lecture, and exchanged views on hot issues such as Prime Minister Modi's cabinet change, foreign policy, 5G. The event was presided over by Yang Fanxin, an associate research fellow at the RDCY.
