On August 19 afternoon, U.S congressional staff delegation which contains 12 members visited Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY), and held a discussion with Wang Wen, executive dean of RDCY, Liu Zhiqin, senior fellow of RDCY, He Weiwen, Former Economic and Commercial Counselor of Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco and New York, Senior Fellow of RDCY. Both sides exchanged views and deeply discussed about the construction of The Belt and Road Initiative, the trends of Sino-US relations, the independence of think tanks and the development of financial service industry etc.
First, Dean Wang extended a warm welcome to the U.S congressional staff delegation and made a brief introduction on the establishment and development of RDCY. Ms. Kimberly Waltina ROSS, Chief of Staff, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (D-OH) expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and hoped that this meeting would play a positive role in enhancing mutual understanding.
In the subsequent communication, Chinese experts stressed that over the past 40 years China has made great contribution to the world. At presence, the BRI has developed into a high-quality stage, and the new round of Reform and Opening-up expects more participation from the U.S. and other countries. It is obvious that in the past development China gained help from other countries. Now China has developed rapidly, and we can also provide development opportunities for other countries in the world. The U.S. experts said that the "American dream" and "Chinese dream" can be well combined. About China-US relations, the two sides should actively seek solutions such as trade balance and market opening. At the same time, two sides should cooperate on various aspects including the exchange between China-U.S. think tanks, digital economy, real estate, technology and job training, in order to form a higher level of mutual trust from strategic design to society.
