A launch event for 'China's Great Road: Lessons for Marxist Theory and Socialist Practices', the new book by John Ross
The Past 100 Years: China, the West and the World Online International Forum will be hosted on July 21.
This is the first webinar from Friends of Socialist China, a platform based on supporting the People’s Republic of China, and spreading understanding of Chinese socialism. The event was also organized by the Geopolitical Economy Research Group.
Please join us in conversation to celebrate the launch of China’s Great Road; Lessons for Marxist Theory and Socialist Practices by author and economist John Ross. China’s Great Road features ten articles by Ross published between the years 2010 and 2021, all of which provide a clear analysis of China’s economic and foreign relations policies over the past decades. More importantly, Ross’ writing cuts through Western propaganda and directly addresses China’s socialist project, its history and growth, and what could be possible for future socialist countries around the world. In this discussion, we will celebrate Ross’ work, address the current economic context of China, and the relevance of this book to China’s current geopolitical position.
This panel discussion is hosted by the Society for Socialist Studies and the Geopolitical Economy Research Group.
COVID-19 has the world's two most powerful countries, the United States and China, staring each other down. So far, it has, for the most part, been a war of words and soundbites - a blame game over the origins of the pandemic and each side's response to it, with the news media serving as the primary battleground. The Chinese and American media industries are ideological opposites - one operating under the watch of Communist Party censors, the other under a capitalist free market dominated by a handful of conglomerates. News outlets in both countries have, however, found their own ways to bolster the talking points of their respective governments.
