As of January 2020, the Chinese government has signed 200 cooperation documents with 138 countries and 30 international organizations for the joint construction of the Belt and Road. The year 2020 will be crucial to bring the Belt and Road Initiative into a stage of high-quality development from the stage of communications and planning. Currently the quick spread of the COVID-19 across the world has badly hit the global supply chains and international trade and economy, posing a new threat to the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. With practical experience combined, this Report will review the achievements made during the seven-year development of the Belt and Road, look at the challenges and provide an outlook for the future construction of the Belt and Road.
